West Lothian Bus Survey
West Lothian Council would like to know your views on bus services in West Lothian. Survey closes 7th March 2024.
Around 80% of bus journeys in West Lothian are purely commercial, with the council subsidising around 20% of journeys.
The commercial bus network has seen major upheaval in the last year, including the withdrawal of all McGill's local services, and providers such as Lothian Country adding new routes as a result.
West Lothian Council has limited budget to intervene, so it's essential we understand where priorities are for local residents on public transport.
Council funding for public transport has been maintained and in the last year, we used this ensure the communities of Greenrigg and Blackridge still have access to bus services. Developer contributions were also used to improve services for the core development areas of Winchburgh and Calderwood.
We are currently reviewing our Public Transport Strategy, and are conducting a consultation with existing and non-bus users in West Lothian on public transport needs and travel patterns across West Lothian.
Data from this consultation will be used to inform an updated and we aim to do everything we can to ensure the local bus network is suitable for residents of West Lothian, within the council's available resources.
We are keen to hear about your experiences of travelling by bus (if you use it) or your perceptions of bus travel (if you don't currently use the bus). We are also interested to hear what improvements would encourage you to travel by bus more.
This survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. We are extremely grateful for any feedback that you can provide, which will help us understand where we can make improvements to bus travel in West Lothian. You are able to provide a response to the survey from now until Thursday 7th March 2024
